Week 6 - I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE

One week left.  I'm getting excited myself to see how this will all work together.  This week's message was about being with Jesus and being as Jesus in our love for one another.

"John 13:34-35 captures Jesus' expectations for his disciples to love, " I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you should also love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples."
When Jesus is our Way, love is real. Love makes tangible differences in people's lives. Love changes the world, one person at a time. For some reason I do not have a photo of week six so will post the one I've been working on for next week.  There will be many changes made to this, but you can see on the photo on the near right where there is a definite path.

The idea for Easter Sunday is already worked out on the canvas.  When I was away in Atlanta last week I had time to do some sketching to try to pull all aspects together and to fine tune areas that need extra work.  Easter Sunday the painting will be revealed.  I'm looking forward to this.  It's been a real challenge, which always leads to learning something new, and I certainly have done that with this project.

Week 5 - I AM THE TRUE VINE

I'm not in Watertown this morning so wasn't able to hear what Pastor Sara had to say about this particular scripture.  I did read the posts on FB, however, and from what I was able to get, we should remember that God is the True Vine and we are the branches.  God will prune our lives and grow the fruit.  It is our responsibility to let God do this.  I have found that in my life He was done a lot of pruning, and continues to do so.  I just have to be willing and patient as He completes me.

I am getting closer to finishing the painting.  There will still be much pruning and changing before I can call it finished.  Hopefully, after next Sunday, I will have an opportunity to tie everything together into a completed work.  Ideas come to me for one part as I am painting new areas.  So, these will all have to be worked together to make one cohesive painting.

Week 4 - I AM the Good Shepherd

The scripture reading today was from John 10:1 - 11.  Jesus said "I am the Good Shepherd" with emphasis on the "good."  No one comes through the gate but through Him, as He is also the Gate.  We, like sheep, have a tendency to stray and always be looking for better "things."  But the Love Jesus has for us cannot compare to that of others.  We must be careful of other things creeping into our lives to lead us astray, but if we do stray, we know that Jesus always knows where we are and will find us.  Another good thought was from Psalm 23 - Even "though" I walk "through" the valley of death..."  Jesus helps us walk "through" the "thoughs."

This part of the painting took extra thought and research, and after hearing the message today, there will be a few changes made.  Look for them on Easter Sunday.

Week 3 - I AM THE LIGHT of the WORLD

The Lenten message this morning was from John 7:2 , 7:14, and 8:12.  In verse 8:12 Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world.  He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life."

Pastor Sara's message was about letting Christ's light shine for us, lighting up the path ahead of us.  We can only see what is right in front of us and not to the end, but we have to trust that first step into the light and see where each succeeding step leads us.

In the painting I started at the center of the "A" and radiated the light out from this into the four corners of the painting.  Now it is a "no no" to work from the center out in a painting, but rules of painting can easily be changed depending on the subject.  I felt that Christ is the center, so this is where the light should come from.

In the coming week, I will be painting the "good shepherd" and the left side of the painting will change dramatically.

Week 2 of Lent - I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE

The scripture this morning was from John 6:27-35.  It refers to never being hungry when we are fed by the Spirit.  This was a very powerful message, making me think about always wanting more and never being satisfied.  Only the Bread of Life will satisfy this thirst for more.  There are happenings in life that really make you realize that "things" are not what is important.

I tried to show bread coming from the oven.  The lines you see are for the next week's message regarding "I am the Light."  The whole painting will change in all areas as the painting progresses.  I do not like to try to complete one section of a painting at a time.  It just isn't possible for me.  I'm sure that as I am painting this week, I will see things that have to be changed on what is there now.  I will be showing only the part of the painting I've been working on until it is finally finished.
