I'm thinking this is nearly done. Time to let it dry some before I start adding some complements to the mix. I'll try that anyway. If it doesn't do what I'm wanting, I can always wipe it off. Now I have to get busy with a portrait commission that is sketched on to the canvas. This should be interesting.

I have been painting on this canvas for a week now, and things seem to be coming together. In other words, it's starting to make some sense. It's amazing how much a person can learn from doing something completely different than before. I decided to make the dove a little more realistic but ghost like, and the rest of it will remain very abstract. There seems to be a story developing, but each person who looks at will have to decide herself what it means to her. There is still quite a bit to do on the lower right corner. I've printed out a b/w copy of it, and my intention is to go in with colored pencils to see what else I want to do with it. It seems like it would work, but who knows?

This has really challenged me and made me think - which is what I was hoping it would do. Yesterday I added more knife painting and decided I wanted to go with an analogous color scheme. Today I worked on that - from the left side to the right side - and I'm feeling like it's all coming into place. Even though it's analogous, I may have to add some complements to it to really make things pop. If someone were to ask me what it means or what it is, I wouldn't be able to tell you. I'm hoping that when it's finished it may evoke some feelings in the viewer.
