DAY 19

I'm so happy to be down in Texas where it reached 86 today, instead of up with the snow and wind.  Doesn't sound good!

No wiping out today, but you really can't see much difference from yesterday.  Working on the trees again and the reflected colors from the sky.  A lot of imagining going on here!  Oh, well, it keeps the mind working!

DAY 18

It's a good thing we have an extra day this month.  After painting a couple hours, I ended up wiping out all that I had done.  Actually, I think the painting is better because of it.  Today I worked on the lower part of the center panel.  Tomorrow will hopefully go better.

DAY 17

Time is flying by.  I can't believe I've been here nearly two months already.  That means only a month left to work.  It's been cloudy all day, so was a good day to work.  I'm hoping to bring the left canvas along to the same point as the center one this week.  So far, I'm happy with what is happening.

If you would like to see the picture larger, double click on it and you will have a much better view.

DAY 16

Yesterday was a beautiful day, and it felt so good to get away and just see the area.  Thanks to cousin Bev and her husband Don for a wonderful day exploring and checking out a fabulous fabric store that really got my imagination going.  I'll have to go back there with some ideas before I head home.

My sister Faye left this morning, so I spent the afternoon painting.  Things are going well, and if all goes as planned, I shouldn't have a problem finishing before the end of March.  You probably all know this, but just in case, double click on the picture and you will see it larger.

DAY 15

Green has always been one of my favorite colors, and I'm discovering so many new shades of green.  It really makes painting trees fun.  Tomorrow I am taking the day off, as it is my sister's last day here.  By Saturday most everything should be dry so that I can go into the trees and add some of the background peeking through.  Also, hopefully, I can work on the bottom of the center panel.

DAY 14

What a beautiful day today, and I've spent most of it inside.  Oh, well, I'm sure there will be more of those to come.  I've decided to concentrate on the bottom of the center panel, then move to the right, and finally the left panel.  Since I am rather new to landscape painting and haven't painted many trees, this is really a learning experience for me.  It is fun mixing the different shades of green and then moving the paints around on the canvas to see what happens.  I took a workshop in Sedona, AZ, last fall with Betty Carr.  I learned so much about mixing greens - which has really helped me today.  So far, I'm happy with what is turning up.

DAY 13

After a three day "vacation" from painting, I tackled it again, with some satisfaction.  I am seeing much more dimension now that I have started the tree line at the bottom of the painting.  It's getting more and more exciting as I see the painting come together.

DAY 12

Another rainy day in Texas.  It would really be nice to see the sun again.  Maybe on Sunday?  I'm taking two days off, so hopefully they will be nice days to do something outside.  I'm beginning to work on some of the larger areas in the painting.  This isn't my favorite thing to do, but when I get into it, sometimes it's hard to take a break from it.  At least it's starting to look like I'm making some progress.

DAY 11

What a day.  The morning was spent on a two mile hike with sister Faye and cousin Beverly at the Woodlands Waterway.  Beautiful and invigorating.  Then coal fired pizza at Grimaldi's.  What a treat!  After that I was able to spend a couple hours painting.  Back to the sky, which I really enjoy doing.  That's one nice thing about painting on something this large.  If you need a break, all you have to do is move to a different part of the painting.

DAYS 9 & 10

The last two days went really well, the camera came, so I thought I was all set.  Then, when I got home last night I discovered the cable to download pictures was still back in the studio.  So - hopefully, things will get back on an even keel and I'll be able to download pictures every day.  These are the two pictures from the last two days.  I'm about to start painting again today, so there will be more.

DAY 9

Today was a good day.  If I can keep up the pace, there will be no problem finishing on schedule.  Still no camera, so I can't post a picture.  I'm continuing to work on the midground and am a third of the way done with this.

Since I'm here, I will go ahead and tell you about one of the last fabric pieces I made.  This idea came to me when I was in Florida two years ago.  I thought I would attempt a wall hanging of a water lily pond by making individual lily pads and connecting them with the water in the middle.  I painted on white cotton with a variety of fabric paints - then cut, layered, and quilted.  After that, I painted again.  The water is made of two layers of fabric, applied specialty yarn, and crystals.  I was pleased with the final piece, which measures approximately 45" wide.

DAY 9

Another rainy day in Texas, but I was able to get some painting done.  No camera yet, but you really can't see much change on the painting.  I'm working on the mid ground and in the area to the right of the center panel and the left side of the right panel.  So far so good, but I'm deciding I will have to put in some longer days, as it is slow going right now.  I have to really work hard to keep from trying to get into too much detail, especially in the areas that are not the focal point.  I think that is going to be the hardest part of working on such large canvases.  This is really a learning process - but I guess life is always a work in progress!

Since I don't have current photos, I am posting a photo of my last painting, which was a commissioned work for friends.

DAYS 7 and 8

I came back from Florida on Wednesday but left my camera there, so can't post images until I get it back.  Days 7 and 8 went well, I thought.  I'm working on the sky and mid land mass.  Working in more detail is very rewarding.

To top it off, I'm having trouble with my browser, so hopefully this will go through.  If not, guess I'll have to work out something else.  I don't understand why they think they always have to change things when there is nothing to fix!

Anyway, hopefully, I have found the way to get back in here and will be able to continue publishing mon Monday.
